Author Crush: Jackson Pearce

So I forgot how busy I was going to be this weekend and didn’t work ahead. Hence, no video this week. And I’ll be gone next week, so no video then either. Sorry!

But I still wanted to give you a reading recommendation, so you get this quick post.

My March author crush is Jackson Pearce. She writes fantasy stories, spy books, and fairy tale retellings. You can find out more about her on her website.

I’ve only read one of Jackson’s books so far, Cold Spell, but I absolutely loved it.

Look at the pretty book!

It’s a modernization of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen”. It features an incredible and diverse cast of characters and creatures, some of which I believe crossover to her other fairy tale books. I read it almost a  year ago, so the details are a little fuzzy, but I remember racing through the story, unable to tear myself away from it.

Now that I have more time on my hands, I definitely plan on picking up some more of Pearce’s books.

But there’s another reason I really like Jackson Pearce. I follow her on Twitter and when I read Cold Spell last year, I tweeted about it and tagged her. She responded, thanking me for reading her book.

I have so much respect for those authors who take the time to interact with their readers. Yes, it’s time consuming and not always possible to answer every person’s comment or question. But the fact that she took the time to reply to a tweet from a stranger shows how much she cares about her readers.

And that makes me want to read more of her stuff. Because not only is she an incredibly talented writer, she’s a nice human.

Until next time, word nerds!
