I know that I ALWAYS talk about The Book Thief, but I can’t help it.
Hans Hubermann is one of the greatest characters and fathers. He makes Liesel feel safe when she first arrives at their house. He sits up with her in the middle of the night when she has nightmares. He teaches her to read. He plays accordion. And he stands up against the Nazis. He is just all around wonderful.
So glad Atticus Finch is on this list though. He is excellent, too!
It’s okay. The Book Thief is worth talking about! And I agree. Hans is wonderful.
