Today is the first day of my last semester of college. I’ve got mixed feelings.
Excuse me while I go scream.
One the one hand, I’m ready to be done with school. I’m excited to get out in the world and start putting my knowledge into practice. My internship was a great experience and it’s been a little tough to transition back into school mode.
On the other hand, I don’t want to leave school. Ever. I don’t feel ready to grow up and be an adult. I’m still a kid, right? Unfortunately, I can’t stay one forever. So I have to learn to shop for food and be responsible for things like rent and bills.
On the third hand (not my third hand, I don’t have a third hand, that’d be weird), I don’t want to be back at school at all. My internship finished at the end of July and I had planned on a month to relax and regroup. But between a freelance editing job, two road trips, my computer refusing to work, and packing to return to school, August turned into a big stress fest. That’s why I stopped blogging, actually. I hope you all didn’t miss me too much.
So yeah, I’m feeling rather overwhelmed today. I asked my Facebook followers for some advice and got some great responses. I just need to keep reminding myself that I’m surrounded by friends and family who love and support me.
A lot of people have been asking what my plans are after I finish school in December. That usually inspires a small panic attack. But I do have plans! Or, at least, an idea of a plan. I’ve been keeping my eye on job listings and will start applying for jobs in the next month. Ideally, I’d like to get into a publishing house as an editorial assistant or something. I also really liked magazine editing. So hopefully by the time December rolls around, I’ll have something lined up.
I think that brings you up to date with me and what’s happening in my life. Comment below if you have any questions or advice for the end of my college career.
Until next time, word nerds!
This can be a tough time in life, sis!! But you have allllllllll the abilities to end this well! Though this adventure may end, another one is waiting for you 🙂 Don’t worry too much and remember to stay in the moment for your last semester. I know that’s easier for me to say, but as a “survivor”, I know you can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Praying for you during this transition!!
Thanks sis!
